The Greatest Commandment: Love in Matthew 22:37-39

At the heart of the Christian faith is love—love for God and love for others. Jesus calls us to a life of wholehearted devotion and compassion.

This verse sums up the purpose of our lives: to love deeply, sincerely, and sacrificially.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. — Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV)

Reflection

Jesus teaches that love is the foundation of every command. Loving God means giving Him our whole selves—our thoughts, desires, and actions. Loving others means seeing them as God does, with kindness and grace.

True love is active. It reaches out, forgives, and serves. When we love God and our neighbors, we fulfill God's greatest desire for us.

Let this commandment guide you: Make love your highest aim in every relationship and decision.

Today's Action

Show love to someone today through a kind word, a helping hand, or a prayer.

Prayer

Lord, help me to love You with all my heart and to love others as You love me. Let my life reflect Your love every day.
